Our Team
Effective Altruism Austria is run by a small board made up of volunteers. The board is elected by members of the EA Austria community on a yearly basis. Each one of the board members carries different responsibilities, from organizing events to securing funding. Read more about who the board members are below.
Therese Veith
Therese takes care of EA Austria's strategy, community building as well as administrative tasks. Therese works for Hive, an Animal Welfare Organization, where she is a Generalist in charge of volunteer management, MEL and tons of other things. She is also a student of Environment and Bioresources Management, as well as Forestry at BOKU University Vienna. Her favourite acitivities are hiking, cooking and doing sports.

Elena Bräu
Elena (she/her) is responsible for our Effective Animal Advocacy Austria sub-group and serves as our Effective Giving Lead. She works as an Animal Welfare Researcher specializing in aquatic animals. In her spare time, she enjoys all kinds of sports and plays the piano.

Damla Aydın
Damla Aydın is a PhD student in Political Science (Political Theory) at Central European University in Vienna, where she researches gender justice, autonomy, and gendered childrearing. She is also interested in effective altruism, particularly effective animal advocacy and the ethics of social and political change.

Patrick Juric
Patrick is a teacher for natural sciences and history. His involvement in Effective Altruism focuses mostly on Animal Welfare and the AlxAnimal intersection and also maintains the website. Patrick has an interest for research, scientific reading and collecting and organizing knowledge. In his free time he enjoys bouldering and playing board games, as well as going outside and spending time in nature.
